This film is about a woman who refuses to be a part of the patriarchal society that she lives in. She goes on to do what makes her happy and fights for it, even if that means being alone. Chitrangada was Rituparno Ghosh's last film released before he passed away in 2013. The story is loosely based on Rabindranath Tagore's work 'Chitrangada'. It follows a woman who does not want to follow the patriarchal society around her and instead wants to pursue what she feels passionate about, no matter how lonely that may make her feel.
